It's so true! I am going to try to make my way (again) through the excellent "Everyday Blessings", a great book on mindful parenting.

Of course, right now it would be most mindful of me to get off the computer and go help my child out of the shower!

Yes, it's funny how God works in our lives and forces us to slow down. I have finally thrown up my hands to God and said, "Okay, I'm sick. I get it. I have to slow down." Too many migraines and too much pain have changed my life drastically. My house is messier and dirtier than its ever been. I don't feel bad calling off a social event instead of going and suffering through it. And I'm noticing that all those things that I thought were so important to get done really aren't all that important. Life and "just being" with my family has taken over, and I appreciate each "healthy" moment. And finally realizing that I'm not really in charge - giving it up to God. That's my new motto. Lynn

Being Together
I am with you, Pam. We seem to be unable to allow ourselves enough time to just get together with others for the pleasure of it. I do very little for pleasure. We are all overwhelmed with lives approaching chaos. Today in my theology discussion class we began a discussion of myths. I like that one hour per week when I can just sit with about 10 other great people and discuss theology and other topics that are not as deep. Having a slow paced conversation relaxes me. I hope to add a few more opportunities like that to my life in the coming year. Take care. Alyc
